(Port) Wine of the month Juli 2019: Warre Vintage Port 2017
I am not on the Symington payrole, but Warre currently becomes one of my favorite producers. After the fantastic 1963 and the recent 1994 tasting, the 2017 is one of the superstars of this magnificent Vintage. I can assure that the next Port of the month will not be bottled by Warre.
Totally opaque black color with intense violet reflections. The bouquet reveals a certain elegance, but structured intensity chocolate, cassis and red berry fruit. Perfectly balanced with floral freshness. Perfectly supporting acidity on the palate with noticeable tannins. Cassis, tobacco, redberry fruit and cherry. Long and multilayered aftertaste. 43.600 bottles with 44% of the grapes coming from Warre’s top Quinta das Cavadinhas with 22% Touriga Nacional. 19/20
